Seriously, where has the year gone? That's 2012 done and dusted. You guys have made this a hugely enjoyable 12 months for PBMW team. It's been a huge privilege to photograph, write about and feature so many high-quality BMW project cars. Is there a particular car that we think has been above the rest? We're human, so obviously we've had our own personal favourites along the way. But which car is crowned 2012 Car of the Year is down to you.

Looking back through the past 12 issues, it's clear that there are two models in particular that are being favoured and tackled by enthusiasts both here in the UK and abroad. Pretty much every month we've featured an E46 M3 that we'd love to call our own. With prices at an all-time low, there's never been a better time to buy your own example.

Likewise, the E9X 3 Series has proved popular this year, both in M3 and 335i formats. The M3's fruity V8 has proven to be ripe for tuning, with most versions we've featured packing supercharger kits. We've also seen an increase in the number of individuals trying their hands at 1 Series ownership, a refreshing turnaround in our book.

Picking a 'best of' shortlist was unbelievably tricky. Last year, there were 25 cars to choose from. This year, there are 30. If you need any additional info on any of the cars, you can always download past issues direct to your phone, computer or tablet.

To vote, all you need to do is pick your favourite three cars. All voters will be entered into a competition to win a year's subscription to Performance BMW magazine (three subscriptions up for grabs). We also have plenty of window stickers to give away so get entering now!

Voting is now close. Winners will be announced in the March Issue.
